IN 101 INTRODUCTION TO INTERIOR DESIGN This course is designed to provide a comprehensive study of
the methods used by the interior designer to create the harmonious
integration of interiors and materials in both residential
and commercial settings. The professional interior designer is
trained to “provide the total creative solution for an interior” as
contrasted with a decorator who “furnishes an already planned
interior.” Topics will include materials for interiors, furniture
styles and accessories, lighting, window treatments, and the
development of a final residential or commercial project.
Architectural drawing techniques and equipment will be used
throughout the course. In addition to the cost for tuition and
fees, all students are required to purchase an architectural
drawing kit. Lecture: 3 hours per week. 3 Credits
