BI 105 DNA METHODS IN CRIMINOLOGY This course primarily examines the science and statistics behind the use of DNA databases for human identification. Topics include mammalian DNA quantification; nucleotide sequencing; polymerase chain reaction; population genetics and allelic and genotypic frequencies; and calculations of exclusion probabilities for matches at multiple loci in genetic subpopulations. Lecture: 3 hours per week. 3 credits.
3 Credits Prerequisites: BI 101, or equivalent, or consent of instructor; MA 105.
