This interdisciplinary program explores political issues and controversies along historical, cultural, and sociological dimensions. Students are challenged to examine the relationship between national and global structures from a variety of social and political frameworks.
This program is eligible for MassTransfer and prepares students to continue into bachelor’s degree programs in many disciplines including Political Science, Law and Legal Studies, History, Sociology, and Public Policy.
Upon successful completion, the Associate in Arts Degree in Liberal Arts: Political Science is awarded.

History Elective
Students are strongly encouraged to take one of the following History sequences for their two History Electives:
Humanities Electives:
Art, Communication, English (EN 103 or higher), ESL (ES 100 or higher, up to 6 credits), Film, Foreign Language, Humanities, Literature, Music, Oral Communication, Philosophy, Photography, Sign Language, or Theater Arts
Laboratory Science Elective:
Program Elective
Any Government, History, Law, Geography or Foreign Language Course at the College or:
Science Elective:
Any 3 or 4 credit Science course at the College.
Graduation Competency
Quantitative skills is a MassBay graduation competency for associate degree programs. Prior to graduation, students must demonstrate this competency by completing a 100-level math course (not MAC); or placing into a 200-level mathematics course.
