BT 108 MARINE ROTATION I

This course familiarizes the student with the fundamentals of marine boating, in particular as it relates to field research and qualifies them for certification in most states that require boating education before operating a watercraft. Subjects include: boat handling under normal conditions, adverse conditions and emergencies; research diving, underwater transect deployment and use: types of boats and boating terminology; required and recommended boat equipment; boating regulations and navigation rules; lines and knots; charts and aids to navigation; piloting techniques; and marine radiotelephone usage. Lab: 6 hours per week.
